Happy MOO Year! A personal post from Stuart and Malia

Can you believe it?? We’re almost through the first month of this new year! I know this is a bit late for a New Year’s post but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share what we’ve been up to during our off season here at the Johnson Sugar Shack. I got a big surprise Christmas Eve when I came out of my room to find a little goat! A surprise just for me! A Christmas Eve goat? Not your typical Christmas gift, I know, but I was happy as can be. I’ve wanted a baby goat for a few years now. One thing about me is that I LOVE Animals. The only thing better than animals are Baby animals (ok you got me, there probably are things better than baby animals I just can’t think of anything right now ;)). I literally cried. I couldn’t believe it! Fast forward to Christmas morning. Now I thought that I had already received my Christmas present… I mean come on, how could you top a goat? But no… I got an even BIGGER surprise the next morning when I was so rudely awoken, tricked into thinking Tina (the goat) had gotten loose and I needed to hurry up and go search for her. So i get up, go outside find Tina is right where she is supposed to be, and then I see Stuart walking up the little dirt road (with the most ridiculous smile on his face) and pulling, with great effort, a rope behind him. Yup, he was bringing me my baby bull. I was shocked to say the least. I thought for sure that Stuart had just gone to a neighbors house and asked to borrow their baby bull to bring to me to hang out with for the day (that may sound weird to you, but he’s done it before with a baby goat). Nope, this bull was joining the faRmily. So Sunny Garcia is the newest member here at the Suagr Shack and definitely the biggest! We’ve been seeing full grown ox around here and get wide eyed with the realization that Sunny will grow to be that big!

So in our off season, we’ve been surfing A LOT, we took a trip to a VERY remote island (I’ll post more on that later), and we’ve been figuring out this whole farmer thing at our house. We’re really looking forward to a trip to visit the family in the states and enjoying some cold weather while we’re there! We’re also looking forward to getting back and kicking off another great wedding season in Fiji! We were blessed to meet so many wonderful couples in 2013 and we are so excited to meet all of our new friends coming out to get married in 2014!

I hope all is well with you and you are enjoying a very happy and healthy 2014!

p.s.  There is video footage of me meeting both Tina and Sunny for the first time… would you like to see that?  Maybe one day I’ll get around to posting those for you to see!
