Last year we had the pleasure of meeting Monique and Karel here in Fiji while they planned their Hilton Fiji Beach Resort wedding for this year!  We were able to get together with them on a mountaintop overlooking the beautiful Mamanuca Island chain for an adventurous engagement session!  Later we got to know them better over dinner that night!  We love when we get to know our couples and find that we have so much in common!  We feel like we would hang out and be friends if we just lived in the same place!  Keeping up with them via social media before the wedding made their wedding all that much more fun when their big day rolled around!

Last year when we announced that we were expecting, Monique contacted us with congratulations and to see if we would still be able to shoot their wedding.  The timing was perfect and there were no issues.  She mentioned that she had just heard a few of her friends were also expecting around the same time and there would be babies at the wedding.  She joked that I could strap Kainoa to myself and shoot 🙂  That would have been pretty hilarious to see, but we left him at home with a nanny so we could do our best for Monique and Karel!

Their wedding turned out to be a perfect day!  The weather couldn’t have been better, and it was such a happy gathering of their friends and family (some who travelled from as far as South Africa to be there to show their love and support)!

In our discussions prior to their wedding, Monique mentioned that she wanted to get some photos that were different from your average Denarau Resort wedding.  She is a big animal lover!  The only thing she was missing by having a destination wedding, was having their two pups there at the wedding with them.  She wanted to find some puppies or any other animals that they could take photos with.

They thought it would be fun to go into a village to do some of their bridal party photos.  Stu made arrangements and got permission from the chief to come to the village that afternoon and shoot.  Shortly after arriving, as we were getting some bridal party shots, we saw puppies running across the field behind them!  It couldn’t have been more perfect!  Some of the village children gathered them up and Monique’s day was made just that much better (plus, the photos are pretty adorable!)
