This Fiji Underwater Portrait Session was a ton of fun!  Scott & Vanessa were really up for the adventure!  With both of them being strong swimmers, and familiar with the ocean and the way that waves work, we were able to swim under some waves!  Shooting underwater and under waves never gets old!  The beauty created by a breaking wave is just amazing to watch!  Add a couple in love in there with the waves and it is perfect!

Preparing for the Session

While Scott & Vanessa are both experienced swimmers and surfers, they wanted to make sure to get the most out of their session.  Vanessa decided to bring out a lightweight, white sundress instead of her actual wedding dress.  This made it easy for her to move around without the weight and length of a full-on wedding dress.  It was beautiful and flowy and looked amazing!  She also felt amazing in it, with no worries!  We had the  time to do a quick change of location and attire so we wrapped Vanessa in a long gold piece of sequin fabric!  It was so beautiful in the water!

The Location

We spend a lot of our time out in the surf.  When we’re not shooting weddings or underwater portrait sessions, you can usually find us out with Fiji Surf Co. surfing and taking photos of traveling surfers.  So it is safe to say that we know quite a bit about surf breaks in the area!  So when we have a couple like Scott & Vanessa who are comfortable in the surf, we know exactly where to take them!  On a day like this one, there was some swell making it a bit too big to safely shoot out at Cloudbreak, so we started out around Namotu to get under the waves and then continued our session in the deep blue near Cloudbreak.

It was such an amazing day all around and we were all so happy with the experience and the end results!
